For the first time in more than two decades, Wofford football will kick off the home schedule Saturday night without the accompanying voice of Spartanburg legend Bill Drake.
Drake’s retirement as the public address announcer at Gibbs Stadium, in the works since early this summer, was made public Wednesday night in a news release sent out by the college. The longtime host of the popular “Awake with Drake” morning radio show on WOLT 103.3 FM has been doing Wofford games since 1988.
