Weldon Borgaard has been the P.A. announcer at Okie Blanchard stadium from the very first game played there in 1958 until the final one in 2013.
For 55 years Borgaard has been the voice of Okie.
Borgaard played basketball for legendary coach Okie Blanchard winning state championships in 1951 and 1952 and was named to the all-state team.
It was Blanchard who asked Borgaard to be the public address announcer and Blanchard couldn't say no to coach.
The son of a preacher Borgaard taught in the Laramie County School District for 39 years.
His passion for people is what has kept him going in his role at Okie all these years.
In 2002 the Press Box at Okie Blanchard Stadium was renamed in his honor, as the Weldon Borgaard Press Box.
