Long time Lobo PA announcer dies at 61

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —Stu Walker, the man who served as the Lobos basketball public address announcer for about two decades, has died.

He also served as the public address announcer for Lobo baseball, men’s soccer, Albuquerque Isotopes and New Mexico Activities Association high school championships.   

Walker started at the University of New Mexico in 1995 with Lobo basketball.

“We are deeply saddened by (his) passing,” said vice president for athletics Paul Krebs. "Stu was a tireless worker and loved not just the Lobos but all of Albuquerque.  His voice was instantly recognized by our fans, and he will be sorely missed."

Walker has been the Isotopes PA announcer since the team’s inaugural season in 2003.
