The Schaumburg Boomers to hold YouTube auditions for PA announcer gig
The announcer for any sports team can create a sound that is instantly recognizable, creating a vibe regular fans can come love. The Schaumburg Boomers are looking for such a person for the team’s inaugural season and it is offering a chance to anyone — and they really mean anyone. Team officials will be taking submissions via YouTube to find the public address announcer for the Boomers’ 48 home games, as well as any playoff games. Dave Salvi, the teams vice president of marketing and promotions, said they are not really concerned experience — they are searching for that booming voice that could come from anyone, even a person who has never set foot in front of a microphone. read Jim Jaworski's entire story here

How much does a gig like this pay (on average)?
you might want to contact the club and ask, I'm guessing between $50-$100 per game?

Thank you for that guesstimate. I will contact them if I decide to pursue it further. Thanks again.
I auditioned for the PA job when it was the Schaumburg Flyers. I did, in fact, get offered the job, but turned it down when the offer came in at $50/day. Sorry. I live 35 minutes from the park and my time is worth more than that.
I should get notified when the "winner" is selected, I'll post the information here....
