Tim Chorones, the park's popular public address announcer since its opening, is stepping down after six seasons due to work and family commitments.
A 1999 graduate of Catasauqua Area High School, Chorones was only 26 years old and a fifth-grade teacher at Union Terrace Elementary when he beat out nine finalists from hundreds of applicants for the job. However, he is now assistant principal at Upper Perkiomen High School and became a father recently for the second time.
“It was a difficult decision, one I put a lot of thought into,” Chorones said in a release by the team. “It wouldn’t have been fair to the IronPigs to learn midway through the season that balancing new responsibilities with my job and family proved too difficult to continue.” Apply or read more <-here font="">-here>
