Carl Beane, Red Sox PA announcer, dead in Sturbridge, MA crash

The Red Sox's Fenway Park PA announcer was killed today in a one-car crash on Holland Road , according to Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. 

Carleton Beane, 59, was pronounced dead at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge a short time after the crash early this afternoon. 

News of Mr. Beane's death saddened people who knew him in the small Central Massachusetts communities where people remember him from his early days as a sportscaster at WARE 1250 AM.

Carl Bean, the voice of Fenway Park, has died in a car crash in Sturbridge.
The Red Sox announcer's SUV veered off Holland Road and slammed into a couple of  trees and a stone wall.
Golfers from a nearby golf course called police to alert them to the crash around noon this afternoon.
Bean, a Western Mass. native born in Agawam, has been behind the microphone of every home game at Fenway Park since 2003.
Bean was 59 years old.
