Dan Baker to be honored for career achievements

Rob Alberino, vice president of media and marketing for the Kansas City Chiefs, says he missed three things when he vacated a similar position with the Eagles and relocated in the midwest in 2003:

“Italian pastry, beachfront property...and Dan Baker’s voice.”

Baker, a West Deptford Township resident whose peerless broadcasting career includes 27 years as public address announcer for the Eagles and 40 years for the Phillies, will be honored for career achievements Friday, Feb. 10 in the Eynon Ballroom of Rowan University’s Chamberlain Student Center.Longest tenured PA announcer in major league baseball, Baker started with the Phillies in 1972 and has been on-field voice for five World Series (two championships) and two All-Star games.

He assumed similar duties with the Eagles in 1985 and called successive NFC championship games in 2002, 2003, and 2004. read the full story
