Michael Baiamonte energizes Heat home crowds with his booming voice

High-energy PA man is in his 21st season with the team
story by Mike Berardino of the Sun-Sentinel

"For so many years I was just a voice behind a microphone," says Baiamonte, in his 21st season as the Heat's public-address announcer. "Now a lot of people recognize me by face."

That's because his repeated in-game pleas to "Stand UP …. and make some NOISE … for YOUR … Miami … Heaaaaattttttt!!!!" are accompanied by a closeup of his face on the Jumbotron.

It's been that way at least since the Heat's run to the 2006 NBA title, and national TV cameras have taken to showing him as well.

Worst ever. Who cares what the PA announcer looks like? This idiot couldn't make a more revealing statement - it's all about him. And for the record, his voice isn't all that 'booming'.

What a self-important windbag. And oh what a shtick - elongate a syllable - preferably with a long vowel - until hell freezes over. Oh boy!

This man annoys me so much i actually have been wondering about him all season. He must be the worst/second worst announcer in the NBA. Not sure who i dislike more - Michael Baiamonte, or the guy who does/used to do the Detroit Pistons games.

I absolutely despise the use of this word in common parlance, but it comes back to me each time i hear him in his schtick. He sounds "retarded." Apologies.

I'm puzzled as to Biamonte's style and over the top screaming-he does have great pipes, no need for the antics...
