Talking their way in: Hundreds seek job as new voice of the Brooklyn Nets

The soon-to-be Brooklyn Nets came to the borough yesterday in search of a New Yawkish voice to lead fans' cheers.

A few hundred wanna-be public address announcers auditioned at Mark Morris Dance Center in Brooklyn, trying to impress team officials with the sound of their smooth and decidedly New York delivery. Others tried out for the arena host position.

The New Jersey Nets plan to move into their new Brooklyn digs for the 2012-2013 season.

"We have a new and fresh building," said Petra Pope, a Nets senior veep. "Why not have a new and fresh form of entertainment?"
