"Simon says" takes on a whole new meaning whenever the Menlo Park Legends host a baseball game. That's because Alex Simon, who just completed his junior year at St. Francis-Mountain View, is the public address announcer for the summer baseball organization.
"He's been a tremendous asset to the program over the last two years," said David Klein, the manager and founder of the Legends. "He's really a renaissance man. He can do it all. He loves the Legends, he loves baseball. He has a very bright future in sports, whether it be writing, broadcasting or being in a front-office position."
There is no official title for his role within the athletics program at St. Francis because Simon is involved at multiple levels. The 17-year-old is the PA announcer for JV football, JV boys basketball, varsity wrestling and varsity boys volleyball -- which won the Central Coast Section title last month behind the efforts of Stanford-bound James Shaw.
