Labor of love keeps PA announcer behind microphone; Gaspar has been voice of Monett sports for 4 years

The public address announcer's job is often overlooked when people discuss the big game. Yet the position is one of the most important aspects of the game-day experience.
The person behind the microphone wields tremendous influence on the fans at the game. From the warmups, to player introductions to general information during the contest, their voice is the only one heard.

The urge Monett fans feel to scream defense, putting their hands together for the song "Everybody Clap Yo Hands" and the need to dance to the YMCA theme song are created by the person behind the microphone.

For four years, "Good evening, ladies and gentleman, boys and girls," have been the first words that greet every fan who attends a Monett sporting event with public address announcer Ken Gaspar.
