CHILLICOTHE,OH — Bill Riley’s name might not ring a bell, but if you attended a Chillicothe High School football game at any point between 1982 and 2007, his voice probably would.
Riley, 86, spent a quarter-century in the Herrnstein Field press box as the Cavaliers public address announcer. His time behind the microphone left enough of an impression on football fans that just hearing his voice evokes memories of Friday night lights.
“One time, I ordered a pizza and the person who answered the phone said, ‘Hey, you’re the PA guy from the football games,’” Riley recalled.
This fall, Riley’s name will get its due. read here
