Rookie Cubs PA announcer took strange path to booth

How Lombard, IL man, 24, went from family's hot dog stand to the big leagues...

Andrew Belleson sat in front of the microphone, cleared his throat and called out the first line of the script in his deep baritone:

"Now batting for the Chicago Cubs, the shortstop, No. 13,Starlin Castro."

It was his first time in the Wrigley Field press box booth, and Belleson tried to stay calm.

He knew it was an honor just to be among the professional disc jockeys, minor league announcers and other trained throats vying to become the Chicago Cubs' new PA announcer.
