Longtime Auburn PA announcer Carl Stephens dies at 77

AUBURN, Ala. -- Carl Stephens, the man who served as Auburn's public address announcer for 27 seasons, died in Montgomery on Wednesday night at the age of 77.
Stephens, who was the sports director at Montgomery's WSFA for 12 years, helped coin the phrase "You're so right, Carl," on his weekly show with former Auburn coach Shug Jordan, who used to respond to Stephens' opening statement the same way every time.
"The Auburn Family has lost a true gentleman and one of the university's greatest ambassadors in the death of Carl Stephens," Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said. "Generations of Auburn fans knew Carl's voice as PA announcer at Jordan-Hare Stadium, other Auburn athletic venues and as the host of the Auburn Football Review during Coach Jordan's tenure. As a player at Auburn, hearing Carl's voice always made you feel at home."   read more here
