Reading GM schedules tryouts for PA announcer


Reading's minor league baseball team will have a new name next week.

Will it have a new stadium public address announcer as well?

If a mysterious post on the Reading Phillies website Wednesday is any indication, that could be the case.

Shortly after long-time public address announcer Dave Bauman posted another critical message on Facebook about the ballclub's impending name change, the club in turn announced tryouts for his job.

General manager Scott Hunsicker said Wednesday night that Bauman has not been removed from his position but that the ballclub posted the tryout on its website as a preemptive move, should Bauman choose not to return.

Bauman, like hundreds of others, have expressed outrage this week over the club's announced decision to change its name.  read full story
