Longtime Charleston RiverDogs PA announcer Ken Carrington won't call games at The Joe this season

Carrington confirms departure "with a heavy heart" after 12 years

The Riverdogs open their 2014 campaign this week at The Joe, but one familiar voice will be noticeably absent. Riverdogs GM Dave Echols confirmed today that longtime PA announcer Ken Carrington has left the organization and will be replaced by former Riverdogs announcer Danny Reed.

After 12 years calling minor league ball in Charleston, becoming an unmistakable fixture at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park for many Riverdogs fans, Carrington tells the City Paper that it was his decision to leave, but that he did so "with a heavy heart," saying the change is still settling in. Carrington continues to announce baseball games at Patriot's Point for the College of Charleston.
