Fenway Park Public Address Announcer Tryouts

This Blog has been notified by one of our PA Group members that the Boston Red Sox are holding PA Announcer auditions/tryouts beginning January 23rd-a copy of their email is pasted below:

Dear Fenway Park Public Address Announcer candidate,

As you know, 2012 was an emotional year at Fenway Park.  Memorable ceremonies celebrated Fenway Park's 100th Anniversary, while other tributes honored loved ones who passed, like Johnny Pesky and Carl Beane.  Carl's passing was one that took a great toll on his co-workers at the Red Sox, and the crew in the Fenway Park Control Room is thankful for the tremendous outpouring of support.

In the days, weeks, and months after Carl's passing, hundreds expressed an interest in filling the position he held nightly since 2003.  Some were invited to be "Guests in the Chair" throughout the remainder of the season, and these people honored Carl's legacy, and acted as the Public Address Announcer for a game at a time.  Many others professionally understood that the number of games limited the number of those who could be "Guests in the Chair."  All names, however, were kept on file and everyone was promised an update on the position's future at some point this offseason.

This email is that update, and it comes with an invitation to try out for the Fenway Park Public Address position on one of two dates.

What: Tryout #1 - Invitation Only*
Where: Fenway Park's Control Room
When: Wednesday, January 23, 2013
Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
*RSVP required

What: Tryout #2 - Public Welcome**
Where: Fenway Park's Control Room
When: Saturday, January 26, 2013
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
**RSVP recommended

If you would like to join us either of these two dates, we would be honored to have you present.  Please RSVP by responding to this email to request your date and one-hour window of time you are available to participate. Please select your time on the hour - i.e. 5p.m.-6p.m, 11a.m.-12p.m., etc. You can expect to hear back from us on Tuesday with your confirmed time slot and details of the audition.  If you are unable to make it on either occasion, but are still interested in the position, please let us know.  From there, we will determine a plan of action for those unable to join us next week.

Thanks for your time, and Happy New Year!  We look forward to hearing from you, as well as hearing your voice over the Fenway Park sound system.

Any idea how we RSVP? I knew Carl and was a friend/admirer of him and would love to audition for it on Saturday. Where do we send our requests to?

Does anyone know if the Sox are accepting audio samples via email?
