Blues' metro-east PA announcer works 1,200th straight game

Longtime St. Louis Blues public announcer Tom Calhoun from rural Millstadt worked his 1,200th straight game Tuesday when the Blues played Phoenix at Scottrade Center.
Calhoun's streak, believed to be among the longest in professional sports, dates back to Jan. 3, 1987 against Calgary at the old St. Louis Arena.
"That was the first game I ever did," said the 63-year-old Calhoun, who has never missed a game since being employed by the Blues. "Ever since I've started I've done every game they've played at home -- and two in Sweden."
Besides enjoying what he does, Calhoun has been able to work through illnesses, bad weather and road conditions and other calamities to make it to the rink on time.  read full story
